type sh swap to base.
IS THIS POSSIBLE?
i have alot of experience with hondas but recently invested in a type sh prelude.
im wanting to get rid of the atts unit and swap the motor to f20b or even just a h22a1.
i called jdm engine corps. here in richardson tx and the guy over the phone was telling me i have to use the a4 motor or the type s motor saying it has to be an atts motor???
is this true?

What is your goal? Why do you wish to destroy an SH? Wouldn't it be easier to simply sell it and buy a base?
The F20B would be a bad choice for an already fat ride.

Type-S engine stamp is just H22A and came with the atts trans. H22A1 is a 4g engine. A base H22A4 engine will not mate to the atts trans.
Why buy a SH if you didnt want the atts to begin with?

just did this.
if u get n e thing OTHER than an SH engine...ull need a tranny and axles to match.
thats it, dont make it difficult by askin more questions on it.
u keep ur ecu, but atts light will be on, it wont affect HP.

ok so i can buy any h22a swap and it will fit in this chassis?
just like any b series will a civic?
i bought this car for 900. it had electrical problems which i fixed. now as i was looking at the under carriage and noticed that the rear t bracket bolts that go through the trans casing have came loose and busted the trans casing all up. so instead of trying to find a GOOD sh tranny i would rather spend a little extra and get a more powerful motor with alot less miles.
i dont give a **** about the atts unit. in all honestly its all up in my way. im not a twisty turn kinda guy. yeah it handles great but i would much rather have a car easier to work on.

I don't see why it won't work by just dropping in a complete JDM H22A or an H22A1. The wiring should be the same except you might have some leftover plugs that the H22 don't have from the SH motor.
That's not exactly PnP.
if i buy a jdm non atts h22 swap it should come with the intermediate shaft so thats where lies my question!??! will BASE model axles complete my swap? and will the motor sit in the chassis correctly?
this is my first time messing with a type sh chassis..
PICS ADDED
For the lazy one can normally leave the axles in the knuckle, and just pull them out of the trans. But since you need to change them....
It should usually come with the intermediate shaft and bracket. But they can often be pretty rough shape. And yeah, you'll need base axles. And you're good to go.

My buddy has a SH model Prelude. He went from SH to a blue top JDM H23A VTEC set up and has no problem whatsoever dropping it in and getting it running. People just making it sound harder than it really is; thats my thought.
omg...
jesus...
buy an ENGINE.
buy a TRANNY
buy the corresponding AXLES
and SWAP.
WHILE YOU ARE AT IT...
get new oil pump
get new water pump..
change timing belt of new engine...
and convert from automatic tensioner to manual.
seriously, there shouldnt be another post after this one...really..

I have a similar situation that i just encountered today. Have a customer drop off a base model prelude that has a hydro locked base h22 in it. The motor he brought with it is a sh h22 with the atts bullshit on it. So my situation is opposite as this one. Will it work can i put the sh motor and trans swap in the base prelude???? Or am i going to have a bunch of problems?? I'm not a prelude genius so i thought i ask you guys.

It's going to be a bit of a mess. You could use the SH block, a regular transmission of some sort, and the adapter plate (PirateMcFred has posted pictures of that) that is used to bolt the base intermediate shaft to the engine block. Putting the whole assembly in would be pretty silly, the ATTS unit would just be a brick.
