Replacing Type SH with Base motor
So I wanted to see if you can replace the sh motor with the base model motor. What to know whats needed and what I got to do. If a thread is posted. Let me know I went through the FAQ thread. ** Only reason of do that was cause no one has a replace locally nor within a 100-150mile range (Northern California)
easiest method would be to use a base model engine and tranny.
If you try to use a base engine with the SH tranny and atts you will have issues with things like oil filter location, water pipe, etc along with just the atts mounting.
Might have better luck finding a jdm swap engine, just Look for the type-S that has ATTS, not the LSD tranny model.

Not sure if a company makes a adapter or if people custom fab/mod the housing. But I know there is a way to run a SH engine and a base trans. Just cant do the other way, SH trans and base engine.

Buy a base model engine and base model trans. Maybe spring for a trans with a real LSD. ATTS is for women.
I run a SH block with a base trans on a fully built turbo setup.
The tricky part is the jack shaft. You need to make a adapter bracket to make it work so that you can get the right bolts from the jack shaft into the block. It's really just a piece of steel with some holes in it. Obviously the ATTS unit is there on a SH block normally.
My car has been setup like this for years with no issue, and another buddy had the same setup on his for years as well.
The oil filter clears as it tilts up, I ran into issues because I run a giant intake manifold and had to run a remote kit.
