Default Transmission swap

Do I need a transmission from the same year as my current car? Or will any transmission from any year of the 7th generation work?
Btw. I'm having a hard time looking for a tranny for my my year. Anyone think they can help or know websites to look for a trans. Honda dealer is charging me 2k for a remint tranny. 2k is alot of money.
Thanks in advance.

Transmissions will work from any year for 2001-2005, make sure you match the right tranny to the engine as the EX tranny is geared differently from DX/LX. If you have an auto look from tarnny from 04-05. Use link provided, good hunting.

Yeah. The 04-05 auto tran's has a built in trans cooler. But might I suggest doing a a/t to m/t swap? Honda want's 2k to put a new auto in, I did a full a/t to m/t and lx to ex head swap all on around 1k. Just throwing that out there.

Ya I did consider it. but I thought it would be more expensive to do a m/t swap cause of
1.Tranny
2.Shift **** etc.
3.clutch. clutch pedal. etc

I thought all that stuff might add up to be even more expensive. But If it isn't I'll certainly look into it. I hear manual trannys are better then the autos anyway.

Ok I got a price from my auto shop. The ysaid that the ycan rebuild the engine like brand new with all parts and everything for 1877.22 And thats including taxes and a 3 year warranty.

So it's pretty much close to 2k. Should I go with it? or is it too much

Manual swap. If you can let the car sit start gathering parts. It will be worth it in the end.

My trans cost me 200. Everything for the full swap minus a flywheel and clutch was 250, ex ecu with matching key's, ignition barrel, and door locks (to avoid a reflash), 200. Flywheel and clutch was 50.

It's really up to you tho.
