The F22B2 already has iron sleeves. So unless you are planning on going with 87mm pistons or larger, there is no need to sleeve the block.

Most Honda engine blocks have aluminum cylinders with ether iron or fiber reinforced metal sleeves cast in them.

Here is a pic of the cylinders and sleeves of an F22B2. You can see the two layers in each cylinder. The lighter gray on the outside is the aluminum and the dark gray/black lining is the iron cylinder wall. (aka sleeve or liner)

When the cylinders do not touch the block, as in the image above, it is known as an open deck.

Some people use aftermarket sleeves to strengthen the block/creating a closed deck. Or if boring the stock cylinders to a larger diameter than specified. Others use them to replace stock FRM (fiber reinforced metal) sleeves. The H22, H23, F20C, F22C and C32B have FRM sleeves. With the FRM sleeves you run a risk of damaging the cylinder walls if you run regular forged pistons. There are a few manufacturers that make forged pistons with specially coated skirts.

There are two types of sleeves, Wet & Dry. Wet sleeves completely replace the stock cylinders & sleeves completely. They are known as wet sleeves as they contact the coolant circulating the block. Dry sleeves are just that, they do not come in contact with coolant. The stock cylinders are machined and the iron sleeves are press fit into the cylinders.

That is completely up to you, your goals and your budget. Going with over sized (87mm +) pistons and having the block sleeved isn't the cheapest thing to do. With an F22B2 I would imagine that 300whp with 86mm pistons is possible. Any larger piston and higher whp and you should look into having the block sleeved.

Personally I like the go big or go home attitude. I'm using closed deck wet sleeves and 89mm forged pistons for my N/A build.

My blog has a picture of a set of the closed deck Wet sleeves. http://ghostaccord.blogspot.com/p/all-motor.html

well hers my plan this is what i plan on buying.... weisco forged pistons dno what mm to get your saying 86mm if i get those would i have to have it bored or could i get 85mm and just throw them in there and be allset, stronger rods, arp head studs, block guard, stainless steel valves exhaust and intake, titanum valve springs and retainers, copper head gasket, mabe a cam regrind and shunk 2 cam gear, and everything cleand block/head etc it takes allitle for me to understand stuff but i said 300hp is my goal but reall i wanna put the boost to 15psi and want the motor to handle it without blowing up i know u cant be 100% on this but thats my plan

If your going to put a block guard in you should have a machine shop check the alignment of the mains and cylinder bores after it's installed. That being said, You might as well get yourself a set of 86mm Wiseco's and have mains checked and the cylinders bored to match. If you have the block bored out to 86mm after you have the block guard properly installed that should ensure that everything is good to go.

i run a f22 turbo set up. you dont need half the bits you are wanting to buy to get 300bhp

first of all get a good turbo and ecu set up. very good advice on bores from other poster. genuine honda gasket will be fine mls so all good. allow lots of time for this project. i am just having my head rebuilt and new gasket fitted along with lsd box and uprated clutch aiming for 400bhp. you will need a good clutch the torque of the f22 will slip standard one all the time. cheers max
