b18c5 or k swap????
I have a 2000 itr and like all want more power do you guys think I should build this motor or build a k motor and just keep this one stock on the side. I plan on road racing this car. I'm wanting my power goal to be 215-225 for b18c5 and 275 on k series. let me know what u think thanks
yeah it is a bit of a difference but man I see people building these k motors and are putting down serious #'s. I keep looking more and more into the k series info and builds and I think i will go k. I will just keep the r motor on the side stock so it will hold some value.
depends on how much you want to spend.
215whp could be had with headwork and cas on the stock bottom end of the b18. this would probably cost around $2-3k max
k swap plus building would run you around $7k if not more.
i make 205whp with more coming with a new tune on an ls/vtec which cost me probably 5-6K mailnly because i started with a straight bare block and had to go and buy tons of oem bolts and what not, but if you already have a complete motor, your good to go.

I'd build a k and put it into a different shell. Don't kill the value of your R. You could sell it to someone that appreciates it for what it is, buy or build a nice k and put it into a shell of your choice and still have pocket change left over.

K series is a superior motor in all ways but 2-3x the price. for the money I'd rather just build a mild b18 and turbo it, make more power and then use the extra cash to go on a fat vacation to hawaii.
He said he wants to road race. Your post and that motor is a FAIL!
For me I stay with the b18c5 cause for road race it's all about skill driving and if k series there will be traction issues on corners unless you get the right tires and suspension for the setup. Drag racing k series, road racing b18c5 built.
