Default Axel Braking 101: taught by TS04

I just recently dropped an H22 into my little 5g cx, it was working great for about 2 weeks until i hit the raceway. Ive raced the cx about 20 times, consitantly running high 12's. In the 3 weeks of having the swap ive gone through 2 axels. This is my first H swap and ive never had this problem with any of the B swaps, but i know the h22's throwing down more tq. but its not like im running a v18 gas guzzlin' 600bbe made of american iron throwin down insane amounts of un-needed tq. So i talked to alot of people with same/similar swaps and none of em have had this problem, so whats going on? Am i going to need some custom axels made or what? Any help would be appreciated.

I took my h22 hatch to the track, and on the 8 or so run, i snapped the spline right off the axle. I'll be picking up some DSS axles soon once my car is up and running again.

your car might be to low.that could do it to..i had a Ls motor and i broke axles ever time i went to the track..because i was to low...if your not that low then never mind...low means tucking the wheels in the front.

Allmotor is correct. A lot of the causes for snapping axles is the front suspension geometry is incorrect. Mostly the vehicle being too low or the engine not install quite right. Use this as a starting point and go from there. HTH

I assume you are using integra axles. I highly recommend getting stronger axles (driveShaftShop) when using a H/F series motor in a Civic/Integra. The Accord/Prelude is made to handle more torque than the Civic/Integra.

My civ isnt low enough to start breaking axles and i know how i spelt axel and braking, its supposed to be that way. I am using integra axles just because there stronger than the civic axels but they are still to weak to handle the tq. being put down.

Default Proper grammar 101

How low is it?

i know how i spelt axel and braking, its supposed to be that way.
I suppose that you also purposely leave out all of your apostrophes also? Perhaps it's time for a grammar lesson or two;
First off, "I" is always capitalized. Yeah, that's a pretty important one.
Use "to", with one "o", only when speaking of direction. Such as, "I am going TO
the store", or in instances such as, "what is he going TO do now?" Any other
time, such as when speaking of extremes, or when meaning "also", it is spelled
with two "o's", as in "he went too far", or "**** him too".
"They are" is abbreviated as "they're".
The word "there" is a place, or direction, as in "he is over there".

Hope that all helps.

Oh yeah, and was that "spelt" with one, or two L's?

Cool out there dickie. "Builthatch" was trying to be cool & just letting him know that he misspelled things - he DID do it in a nice way. "Twystedspeed", came back with a response that rubbed me the wrong way. I believe that when someone tries to help you, you should thank them. Ingrates aggravate the hell out of me, thus, my post. If it was out-of-line, then I castrate myself before you & beg for your forgiveness.

Calm down, y0 ... he just wants you to clean up your English.

I know a guy around here that has a Civic DX Coupe, 93-95 body style. He dropped in a B20/VTEC race motor and kept snapping axles. He went with the afore-mentioned http://www.driveshaftshop.com and was fine after that.

High 12's from a prelude motor in a hatch? That is unreal. Can anyone else back that up with what they have seen?

One thing that i know for sure that will break axles if the mounts your using are letting then engine move around alot during hard take offs.Allmy engine mounts are pretty much solid,i havnt broke an axle in a long time.Another thing too...Are you dumping the clutch at the track???You might wanna check out the stuff that Prodrive has.But keep in mind also.........If your axles wont break...whats gonna take the beating next in line???
