all 98+ tegs have relocated trunk releases...
it is no longer inside the car by the door sill...
its now located on the exterior hatch...
just reach underneath the hatch indentation and flick the release mech...hth

I have an 01' type r and i was wondering if there was a switch or lever to open the trunk from inside the car because mine seems not to have one.
IF you do have an 01 ITR and you can't find the trunk release, you are a ******* idiot.

Yea, me too.. I can't seem to find my inside release either... But my fuel door seems to be always open..
