Trunk Issues with my 00 R

Hatch Issues with my 00 R
I'm trying to fix my hatch issue with the R.
The key hole in the rear has been shaved and the hatch itself does not have the little switch that you can slide over to pop the hatch open. Being that its a 2000, it does not have the hatch lever inside the car either .
I think the Hatch was replaced at some time because this doesn't seem to make sense and I also have a 97 rear bumper indicating bad thoughts
If anyone has a diagram that I can look at to see how everything works, that would be great.
Any suggestions on how I could go about fixing this ?
* Sorry the title says trunk but yes I know its a hatch

I dont know how ur gonna get in that thing without tearin **** up. I cnat even remember which of my cars had which.... I'd say if you take the rear plastics off you'd see how the cable works, but the hatch should be open to take out the plastics. Call the previous owner and tell him he's a douchebag.

there should be a slid toggle switch type deal under the handle on the hatch
integra hatches are weird, there known to have little problems, i usually have to put the key in the hatch, turn it and pull up on the handle with the toggle switch pushed to the side
its supposed to just come open with all the locks unlocked and you just push the slide to the side and pull up

Has the car been rear ended? Sounds like you have a pre-97 rear end (including trunk/hatch)? Regardless, the best place to get a diagram is through Sons Acura of Georgia. They have an online resource and you might be able to compare pre-97 and 98+

Re: (vtecjerry)
pull the rear bumper off and see if you can access the key cilynder via the rear fascia, the piece under the taillights between the lights and the bumper. Only thing i can think of.
That or fold downthe seats and crawl in the hatch that way and break **** til you get the rear center pannel off and can get to the hatch latch mechanisim that way.
I wote for the second option then just replace whatever you have to break to get that pannel off. Sucks, i'm gonna bet that you didnt notice this before you bought the car.

Re: (mr_gs-r)
also for simplicity and cast effectiveness i would buy the lever and cable for a pre98 hatch release from len at sons and install that. Beats buying a new hatch!
I'd call the previous owner and ask him how the hell he got his hatch open...

Re: (mist sITR)
i would break the plastic in the trunk and then you can get to the latch from there its right behind it, when you order a new one you also have to get the metal loop also from a 98-01 they are diff sizes on the 94-97
i think it would be much easier to break or cut the plastic in the trunk to get to the latch rather then risk damaging the trunk panels or any other panel.

Was this car rear ended? I suppose it would explain the 94-97 rear bumper too.
In for the solution to getting the hatch popped.

now that you have it open pull up the rear trunk mat and check out the spare tire wheel well and see how that looks

Re: Hatch Issues with my 00 R (ITR.#1446)
there is a rod ocming off of the latch mechanisim, theres a clip like thing on it. undo the clip on the rod and pull the rod and the hatch should open. It would be much easier to describe with a picture. You should see what i'm talking about when you get in there looking at it. cause it sounds like you need it.

Re: Hatch Issues with my 00 R (espanol)
my hatch didnt work either and the key hole was shaved.... to get it open tho....there is a bar that comes off the latch. You need to stick your finger inside the hole(under latch) and push on it to the passenger side of the car. to fix it i would go to a junkyard and pull the cable, latch for the body and the latch part that goes on the trunk. easy and best way to fix that problem. ive got and extra set ill sell you if you want to do it that way. hit me on the PM if you want it
