Im getting tuned tomorrow morning and my gauge in the cluster reads the coolant temp normal but the s300 says its around 220 and is throwing the cel. put a new temp sensor in and same issue. have never had any coolant issues before. Is the coolant temp ok or should i worry about it. thanks for your input
which temp sensor did you replace? the sending unit for the gauge? i think hondata gets the temp reading from the coolant temperature switch, the sensor that controls the fan. is the fan turning on?
edit: it gets the temp from the sensor in the head. have u tested that sensor?

which engine do you have? most hondas are setup like this

#11 1-wire sensor for the dash gauge
#13 2-wire sensor for the ECU reading (hondata reading)
#12 2-wiresensor for the fan switch
which did you replace?
generally the hondata reading is correct. just because your dash gauge hasnt moved doesnt mean your are running hot. in my experience the dash gauge doesnt move until 220 or above anyways

I changed both sensor and replaced the thermostat. Still didnt stop it from overheating. i cut the spring off the thermostat so it was free flowing and didnt have any issue sitting in traffic for and hour and two hours on the dyno. Put down 505whp at 21psi. Is there any issue with running no thermostat? I dont drive it in the winter so cold starts are not an issue.

On the highway it was right around 195 and on the main roads and back roads it didnt go above 178

sounds to me like you didnt bleed the coolan system well enough and it was air bound. Also a good possibility you arent gettign enought air flow through the radiator, do you have pics? The gauge on the dash doesnt give exact numbers. Ive always found that up to around 220 the stock gauge will read normal then above that it will rise rapidly.
If the car is a DA its very difficult to get good airflow to the radiator, my friend has been battling run hot issues for years. its finally to the point where it wil stay decent temps but long highway rides it wil slowly creep up to 220 but takes about 45 minutes. Next step is to block off the air flow on the driver side so its all directed to the radiator

It is in a DA.I dont have any pictures of the intercooler set-up. ive been running the same set-up for five years this way and havent had issues before. I let the car run for 20 minutes with the radiator cap off. Im not sure if Im gunna bother putting the termostat back in or just leave it that way.
