can you guys explain?

OK, if you don't want to wade through that copy-and-paste job up there, I'll tell you. The EG5 is the 20th Anniversary Civic SI hatch that came with the DOHC non-VTEC D16ZC engine. It's got special badging on it as well. IIRC, it was only available in Japan in '92.

EG5 is most commonly known as the JDM 92-95 Civic Si that came equipped with the D16A9(ZC) DOHC non-vtec engine. But in the EDM market it is known as the Esi.

It did have the special 20th anniversary badging for the model year 1992 only, but was produced from 1992-1995.

Not much to be found on your car. Everything I read is that it is equivalent to USDM DX trim level.
PH12 - 1.2L single cam, no VTEC
POWER: 72 bhp
TORQUE: ~80 Nm

So with that, I am sure you dont have either the EG5 or EG6.

More than likely you have a EG3 or EG4.

If you look at the firewall, is there a stamp in the firewall stating EG?xxxxxxx ?

 

The JDM SI (EG5) was only produced in 1991/2 as a special commemorative edition (20th anniv). It was not available in Japan any other years. The ZC engine was discontinued in the Japanese market when VTEC engines came out, but they brought it back for this special commemorative Civic. This is from Wikipedia Japan). All of the JDM catalogs I have agree with this.

I don't know about the EDM models though.

OP, what is the number on the side of your ECU? Also, what trim if your car (DX, EX, EL, etc.)?

 

I know a fella that moved a long way from home to tehre.

 

look for the VTEC solenoid. if its not there then its the ZC DOHC and EG5. if it is there then its a B16 and EG6.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the OP's question is similar to if a guy came on here and asked if his US '96 hatch was an EK4 or an EK9. Those chassis codes are known to the poster, so other chassis codes might not have even been thought about.

If I get the ECU part number from the side I can probably figure out what it is.

 

I know this is sort of off subject but, exactly what is "Ferio"?

 

Overseas there are the following Civic based models:

Civic
- These model are always hatchbacks.

Civic Coupe
- These models are always two-door coupes.

Civic Ferio
- These models are always four-door sedans.

Some countries in Europe also have the Civic Five-Door (which is a five-door hatch) and the Civic Aerodeck (which is a five-door wagon).

It's been said before that the "Ferio" models only are some sedans, but according to the Honda catalogs I have, this is untrue. All '96-'00 Civic sedans in Japan are badged as Civic Ferios.

It's nothing special. It just means it's a sedan.
