Blown strut... : ( What should I get as replacements??
So I hit a pot hole from the underworld last night coming around a blind corner, and after a pretty jolting crack sound, my car is now about 2 inches lower, which looks impressive, but also grinds my fender terribly!
Anyways, I bought this with stock struts and the guy had dropzone coilovers, skunk 2 camber kit, I knew it was only time until I had to upgrade anyways. So I'm new to this, I've never researched struts. So first can anyone give a novice a definitive answer on what a strut is AND what shocks are or do they just go hand in hand? I know it's a question worthy of ridicule but whatev, here to learn everything I can!
So back to my original intention, I am about to move from Iowa to Florida and thus conveniantly am very very short to cash but have to get this car down there. So is there anything the senior Honda guys can recommend on a budget that isn't garbage. Of course I will be deal hunting, but what brands, models etc should I know to have an eye out for? I really want something stiff, not too concerned with any comfort aspect (but always a plus ha ha!). Thanks a ton for your input, I am supposed to move in three weeks have no job here anymore and need to get this car up again!

For sure, I just am so new to suspension stuff, they are interchangeable? I can just take them off and throw them on the tokicos then? Is there anything else I might need? Sorry for the retarded questions ha ha, I just want to be sure.

I have kyb agx adjustable and love them and they ride smooth when you put them on softest setting
I had tokico blues and they sucked might as well have welded the shocks together.so they were solid it was very ruff

Just ensure nothing else was ruined in that pothole man, ie: ball joint/tie rod.
And get some decent struts, KYB AGX or other dampening adjustibles. Maybe Koni Yellow.
Dropzone isn't a good coilover sleeve at all, it's pretty much eBay quality, so maybe you want to upgrade now.

kyb agx all 4 shock adjustable for 400 shipped on the big ebay sometimes you can catch them on there a little cheaper i have them all the way around with h&r springs
Oh man... yeah I'm totally broke I was trying to sell some si wheels that I love for like $250 just to get anything. I found some stock ones I might have to get off of a friend. I really apreciate the input, I know what to look for in a few months when i have some cash!
get underneath and check out your suspension and figure out why the ride height changed. could be A LOT of things based on the crap parts you described already installed.
dont waste your money on tokico blues. it doesnt sound like you care for performance, which the blues dont provide. at least dont buy them full price and new. if indeed your shocks are busted, just get some used shocks to throw in there.
and figure out what else you need to replace.
I have the race springs a pic of my ride please don't mind the crappy flat black and body work that needs to be done its under a full restoration right now here is my build thread.

I must have gotten lucky then, and yes I am performance oriented in my build, but bad things don't wait until pay day to happen
. I went out and pulled the front shocks off a DA in the scrap yard while I save some cash. Suspension was on my list anyways, this is an opportunity to figure out what I should drop my cash on. I don't want to just have coilovers on stock. Thanks for all the input! I'm still not sure what I should go with. I just want something that will NOT bounce at all like my crap suspension does now!

There wasn't a lot to see, it snapped the bracket off above the fork and the fork slid up the shock, the top of the shock blew up and hit my hood so I have a big nasty depressing dented hood and a few tire scuffs in the wheel well. My tires were offset pretty well so luckily no crushed fender!
ive heard good and bad from everything, about a 50/50 on all of it.
there is a lot out there so just do some research and see how everything performs and such.

Honestly if u aren't gunning for performance but you want a better ride over stock for a low price, i'd just get some Tockico Blue's and rock your current springs until u can afford better. You're just looking to get it to point A-to-B at the moment, no need in going ***** in when it's not needed, by the time u save up and are actually ready to get serious suspension wise you'll have the gwap to go hard and get something good.
I'd just swap back to stock struts and springs until you save up for a nice combo of your liking. I know the stock ride hight is trash but who cares how it looks if you are just trying to get it back on the road. Just pull them out of a junk yard for like 30 bucks. Good luck man
