No gear after clutch replacement
I recently notice my transmission was making some chatter noise so Ive just replaced my clutch on my cable B16 transmission. Once I drop the transmission, the old clutch had a broken spring from the clutch disk and the release bearing looked pretty worn, so I hoped I had found the problem.
After putting everything back together with new clutch kit (with new pilot & release bearing), the clutch cable seem very stiff to adjust but I manage to tighten it a little. But once my CRX was running, I cannot shift to any gears and if I force it, it makes this whining noise...
Anyone ever had a similar problem??? I'll try to miss with the stiff cable today but any feedback will be grateful
Oh and it goes in every gear if the car is off...

TETSUOOOOOO!!!!
It's kind of hard to say but look at the swing arm/actuating lever and see if it looks relatively similar to the angle it used to be at before switching the clutch. For sake of comparison, my hatch has the arm slightly above the horizontal plane that the arm pivots on. If you have a heavy duty pressure plate (or similar) then that could be the reason why it's difficult to adjust the ****.

ya i think you may have over adjusted it maybe you should be able to tug on the cable a little and it have tiny bit of slack, cause its prob not engaging all the way so you can go into gear how does the car take off when you put it in gear with it off then take off?
Thanks for the feedback CJ and ef_junky
. I'll try and see what I can do to adjust the cable today...
The weird thing was that when I loosen the clutch cable with the old clutch kit, it was stiff after loosening the cable all the way up. I was unable to slide the cable off from the lever, so I end up taking off the cable bracket...
and the new clutch kit I have is the OEM replacement, nothing special... I also don't think the cable is stretch either because I replace it less than a year ago...

I think I have an extra clutch cable if you want to try and swap it out, it's a stock D cable though (I'm not sure if you need a B cable or if there's any difference).
Thanks CJ but the cable I have is pretty much new. I tried adjusting the cable today but no luck... It goes in gear sometime but not smooth at all, so I drop the transmission again to inspect the release bearing. When I pop out the release bearing all the way out with the lever, the bearing kinda tilts to the side at the end... I took off the bearing to inspect the fork and the spring and the spring that compress the fork seems to be bent a little which I think is causing a uneven press on the release bearing...
I also check the clutch disk and the pressure plate for any damage and the their was some rubbing marks on the inside end of the pressure plate teeth....

Solve the problem... The fork spring was bent causing an uneven press on the throw out bearing... Replace it with a new one and it works GREAT!!!
