koni/ground control vs tein basics
i need suspension for my eg hatch.. now this car is a daily driver and i live on long island so the roads are bad here.. i heard somone saying i need a progressive spring for a daily driver are these progressive?
Don't really know about "progressive springs", but I had the Basics on my coupe; very comfortable for a DD. MN has horrible roads and I had those suckers bottomed out and it still wasn't that bad. Noticeable bottoming out though. They handled well and at a reasonable ride height, they were quite comfy (soft).
I have Koni/GC on my coupe now. I opted for stiffer rates than the Basics offered. Personally, I think it's a great ride, handles extremely well. Again, if I raised my car, it would handle better and be comfier as well.
If I had to do it all again, I would go straight for the Koni/GC

Both of the springs on these coilover are linear springs as they're more predictable. If you're worried about ride quality also look into lowering springs with a good shock.
Koni/GC for sure! If you're concerned about the ride being too stiff, opt for lower spring rates and don't drop it too much. The Konis on full soft are really cushy on DC's crap roads with 350 front and 380 rear. That still might be too stiff for you though. I forget what GC recommended for DD, but it was less than what I bought. I'm VERY happy with my setup though for both daily driving and fun handling.
For 6th gen civics the GC/Koni is a much better setup. The spring rates on Tein Basics for the 6th gen's are pretty bad.
The Basics are arguably better than the GC/Koni setup for a 7th gen civic because the Basics' spring rates are good and the Koni are shock inserts so you needa gut up your OEM shocks.

gc /konis on my ej8 and I love em ! great even on crappy roads , they are smei bouncy in some spots , I have not figured out why because it really only does this on one road in my city. but the rest is very smooth , they give a great drop , and the koni warranty is great , if one breaks you just order a new one send them the old one and you will get refunded the money back to your account. its pretty sweet , a win win in my eyes.
Koni/gc will blow a tein basic away. Basics have been known to blow around 2in drops. Check the slammed thread and youll see a koni is better.
Koni's have life time warranty teins do not. Koni is dampaning adjustable, tein basic is not.
For a dd koni/gc with top hats in front would be my choice, they will do good for a sprited dd, or just a plain old daily driver.
Besides that, koni/gc is tried and true with hardly any issues or people saying bad things about them, Tein basic is the total opposite. There are many people say bad things about them, how they ride and handle.

koni+gc ftw foreal **** tien basics my homie had a ss setup and it barely compared to my koni gc setup and youd spend 400$+ more for that setup. soo bang for your buck =koni gc tien=waste of 750 or whatever they go for nowadays.
i think im just gonna get the tein basics i can get them brand new for 750 i don't care about performance, i just want mad tight jdm yo! i mean it's obvious the koni gc route would allow me to adjust rebound and choose my own rate. who cares about performance, i just want my dawgz to know i roll on tein yo
Just reread my first post on here. The Koni/GC setup is worlds better than the Basic setup. I've had them both on my EG, and the Koni's ride better, even at an inch lower, than the Teins. Someone persuaded me to go the Tein route, but if I did it again, I would go straight for the Koni/GC.
Indeed it is.
The inserts tend to blow a lot on 7th gen civics. And cutting up my OEM shocks to put in inserts isn't idea for me because i wouldn't like to run my coilover setup in the winter. They run very well on 6th gen civics, but for 7th gens they don't hold up as well.
