I bought my car on the cheap a few months ago and the ignition requires a different key than the door...no big deal. What is a big deal is that neither of those keys works to drop the back seat of my coupe so I can put larger items in my trunk. I found a full, albeit crashed, 98 for sale and was thinking about swapping out all the locks so I can have a matching set. Has anybody out there done this before and how much work would I be looking at? Any input I can get would be appreciated.

PS if anybody in the SF bay area needs parts for an ek let me know since I probably won't need a whole lot off of the car.

 

Just to update, I've found walkthroughs on how to do the trunk lock and ignition, but the door locks and the lock above the rear bench I've got nothing. If anybody knows how to get at this thing without being able to open it with the key please let me know.

door locks are a bi#$h take off the inner door panel and unbolt the outside handle and remove the lock rod then there is a large clip that holds the key cly in pry this out lock should come out now . good luck it is posable to rekey them also

 

your gonna end up chipping some paint doing this.

 

i rekeyed my 94 hatch doors this past weekend in about 30 min.
never done it before
no DIY's
no expirience
took it apart. figured it out.
fixed it.
just look at the lock mechanism and you can see how they come out. remove them.
remove the tumblers and tumbler housing

then play with the tumbler numbers one by one in each slot until it all lines up and turns in the lock.

should have tumblers #1-#6
they are cheap at a honda dealer. like a couple cents each. go buy a few of each and find out wha makes it work. then go buy the number or each #tumbler you need.

Thanks for the info on the door locks everybody, especially the links with pictures! The only thing I can't really find is how to replace the lock that holds the rear seat in place (you turn the lock and then the rear seat drops and you can access the trunk). This lock has no key and I can't figure out any way to get it open without it. Any thoughts?

NM about the folding seat lock. For some reason there was a chunk of carpet glued over where the lock was...really weird...it was like an extra piece of house carpet. Guess the old guy that owned it before me must have put it there. The lock is clearly visible from the underside now. Thanks to everyone that posted and I'll post once I've done it.
