can't get sub and antena to work, help!
ok I got a new Alpine head unit, 7874, and I got it cause with it the stock cd changer works and it has RCA out for the sub. Ok everything was fine until now.
After like 15 min of playin the system the amp doesn work, and then I noticed that the antena won't come out when the radio is on. But if I turn the head unit off then on in 5 min, the antena goes up to mid point then goes back in. And the amp is only on when the antena work.
the connections are all secure and the remote wires are all connected. It seems as if after a long break it works for about 15 min, what should I do?
What is going on, is it a faulty head unit?

here is some more info:
the remot wires are connected, the blue with white stripe is connected to the amp, and the solid blue to the harness adapter.
I dont know what to do, cause the 7 day exchange policy is gonna run out soon. And the guy at the store said he's gonna hook it up and chek if it works, but it works fine for the first 20 min or so.

Hmmmm.....it is a good possibility that if you are using a Honda OEM changer with the CDM7874...the difference in pin configuration and protocol
could be the cause of your problems. Unplug the changer and see if there is a difference..

no thats not te case, cause its an Alpine changer used with an OEM plug, so it should work fine, its an M bus changer, but the same problem happens with the changer unpluged.
someone mention adding a replay to the remote wires because the power charge is to much for the head unit, would that work? and if so, what would i add a relay to? the blue wire with the white stripe of the blue wire that is solid blue.

Take the radio back you shouldn't have to do anything but hook it up to get the antenna to work. You don't need a relay, so don't worry about that, it's either the radio or the antenna that's malfunctioning. And your remote wire should always send the voltage. Try swapping the remote wire from the amp to your ign wire. Make sure you double check the wiring and that there is a good connection, i can't count how many times i have overlooked simple mistakes.

As for the relay wire its as follows: 86 blu/white from radio
30 12 volts
85 ground
87 output to amp
As for the deck now....I would have them exchange it out for a new one as a
customer service gesture...ask nicely...also show them that you (if hope you did) used a adaptor harness to complete the install.

ok, I exchanged the head unit, and it wasnt the head unit, I found my problem.
no the changer works fine, its not that.
when I wired up the power antena without the amp wires up everything workes as soon as I connected the amp remote wire it started to act funny again. I would connect the remote for the amp and the antena would start going down then when I let go it went up.
so something is wrong with the remote wire that is running to the amp? any ideas, I was thinking it got pinched and is grounded, and is causing the safty feature in the head unit to shut the 12V power to it and the antena. And another thing is I cheked the blue w/white wire and it gives out a constant 12V source.
would a relay still work? or is this something else?

i would unplug the changer ( just to see ) then unplug the remote wire just to see if the antenna goes up if not un plug both the blue w/ white and the blue while the radio is plugged in and test both wires with a multi meter A TEST LIGHT WILL NOT WORK !!!!!!!! use the meter to see if you have 12v comming off of both wires if you do then you want to see if your remote wire is gounding out unscrew the remote wire from the amp the test for continuaty ( i know its spelled wrong) if your going to do that by using the probes on the meter one on ground one on the remote wire your going to set the meter to the setting that looks like sorta this >I- if your wire is grounding out you will see the meter read 0.00 or 00.1 if this is the case then your remote wire is grounding out if you dont get a readiong like that your wires seem fine so if your wires are fine i would look at the connections on the amp if a strand of the remote wire is touching the amps ground you will ned to crimp on a spade connector to the end of the remote wire to avoid and problems but just to let you know i think its the canger too alpine stock (honda) changers use a diffrent pin out than the aftermarket changers they make im sure y our going to need to either modify the changer wires or bauy an adaptor to make the problem go away
btw audioroach is right the stck honda connector is the same as the mbus changer cable but inside the units two wires are swaped that is why the radio is wigging out i garantee you that
