I'll soon be doing a timing belt service. Which seals do I need to replace? I seem to have gleaned from the posts here that the camshaft, front crankshaft, and balancer shaft seals should be replaced. Are there any other seals that should be added to this list? I see oil leaking out from the base of the lower timing belt cover.

Is it a lot of additional work to replace these seals? I did not replace any of these when I last did this work at 85k miles. Any tips (or write-ups) to help things along? I haven't found anything specific through searching.

You may also want to replace the o-ring-style gasket behind the rear balance shaft gear case. I replaced everything but that when I did my belt, and I think it's leaking now, but i'll have to disassemble it again to check it. take some effort to replace the seals. you will have to hold the cam pulley with a pulley holder (or possibly a pry bar but be careful where you put it). remove the cam sprocket, front balance shaft sprocket, and crank sprocket. you may need to spray penetrant onto the crank sprocket to get it to come off. remember to clean all grease/oil/dirt off everything before reassembly.

There are very good drawings at hondapartsnow.com (see http://www.hondapartsnow.com/online/...0Timing%20Belt for example) but I don't see anything there like the o-ring-style gasket you mention. You don't happen to have a part number or know of a picture or drawing on the web somewhere, do you?

Yes, I will have to figure out how to hold the cam pulley. The rear balancer shaft I think can be locked with the long bolt the manual mentions. Does the crank pulley also need to be locked somehow?

this is the diagram for the oil pump section, and it's number 5 on the diagram, oil pump gasket B. the other seals are there as well, front balance shaft and crank.
