Default Feels like vtec in my non-vtec...

So ive noticed while driving my eg dx it has no power under 4500 rpm. when it hits 4500 she takes off pretty well. But there is a definite threshold it had to cross. Below 4500 its sad how little power it has. Is it just a honda thing?

Mods are aem intake and megan catback. Videos ive seen show the car pulling pretty well through the rpm range. Plugs are gapped.
And Look decent. Oil changed this past weekend. No clue why it would run like this unless I
its supposed to...

My car is about the same way. (D15B7).

Just the way the power band is setup I guess.

just a small engine making use of its cam, see a vtec engine would feel strong down low too, because of the smaller cam profile.

would the "mini me" swap help then?
it has vtec and the swap looks fairly easy. found a local head for cheap.
just wasnt sure if the swap was worth it

I had a JDM D15b on my 1993 dx hatchback... Maybe like two months a go i did that mini me swap on it.... I put a d16z6 head with the SI trany the head came off a 1993 SI hatch and let me tell you it made a really really big change in power.... and my buddy also chiped my ECU

Its WORTH IT!

awesome!
i may need to just do that.
how long did it take you?
you just need the head, t-belt and gaskets correct?

im not familiar with honda chipping. what all does it entail?
my VW is on full standalone. i think i remembered reading that honda chipping makes it so you can tune similar to standalone? or is it a drop in chip with generic fueling/advance maps?
i think a z6 head and chip could hold me off powerwise for a little bit.
