hey today i popped open my hood to tighten up a nut and when i tried closing it (like 100000 times) it would latch, just not shut all the way, i need to fix it asap cause its my DD and i need to work at 4!!

i tried to put my finger and hold the little trigger and then close the hood let go and push it down but still no luck, any ideas ?? thanks!

 

on the latch where the end of the cable hooks in, push it to the drivers side of the car

Haha, I have this exact problem. I have to do that to the cable every time I try to close my hood. Whats this permanent fix for this, so I don't have to do that?

its the only cable in the hood latch. theres a metal bar that has a cable with a ball on the end run through it. thats it.

a fix may be to grease the arm that connects to the cable.

 

Actually i have a 2001 civic that does this.

I replaced the hood latch and then realized what the problem is on mine.

When you pop the hood using the lever inside the car, the lever doesnt fully snap back into place so the latch doesnt fully close again when the hood is shut down.

I just have to push in the lever before shutting the hood and my hood stays shut now.

 

good for you. want a medal? the lever was pushed in as stated the metal bar on the latch sticks.
and your cable liner is problaly broke thats why it isnt returning al the way

 

yeah i need to get down by the pedals and push my cable in a little bit then i can successfully close my hood
