!Need help! 93 civic SI project car
I just purchase a 93 civic SI hatch with a 138k on the motor. My goal is get it back in cherry condition. What I am looking for at the moment is a new engine and tranny with low miles D16Z6. Eventually I plan on replacing almost everything so that it is practically a new car. I will add photos soon.
tigerjapanese.com has some pretty good prices on jdm single cams if you want to go that route. they usually have very low mileage. Ive had two swaps from there and no complaints so far.
Unfortunately I live in Cali, JDM will not pass BAR'd and I need this as my daily driver.
Any one know the pros or cons to having the engine and tranny rebuilt. Is it possible to get a higher HP out of a rebuilt engine.

If you are wanting to keep this stock, rebuild a z6 and mated trans, possibly go lsd. you can get more hp out of an na engine with simple stuff like an underdrive kit, set of higher compression pistons, and a bit of a wilder cam, along with a good ecu tune.
a z6 with 136k IS considered low mileage ... well seeing as how they tend to run till the 200k's
but it'll be hard to find a z6 with brand new miles, if your lucky you'll find one with a little less than 100k
but i'd repaint the interior, get more comfy integra seats, buy any interior pieces that are missing in the cabin
buy new oem suspension bushings (probably the hardest job of restoring your civvy)
flush all fluids, recharge a/c if you keep it
