Weird Coilover Problem. Rides like crap and knocks.
Hey guys, I have a strange problem I need some input on.
I'm riding on Function/Form Type 1s, and yesterday I raised my car up about an inch all around. Before I was slammed and it rode fine, but I wanted to make a little bit more clearance and get some better ride quality.
Now that i've adjusted everything, the front of the car rides like butter but the rear bounces all over the place. Theres also a strange knocking sound coming from the rear driver wheel well. I had a friend shake the car to produce the noise as I was under it and nothing was physically hitting anything from what I could tell, so i'm guessing its something with the coil itself?
It almost seems like the coil isn't absorbing anything
I'm going to try swapping the 2 rears and see if the problem follows but I won't have time until Sunday so I wanted to get some other opinions.
Thanks guys

It's possible they're bad but it's more possible they're not pre-loaded. That means when thee's a bump in the road the spring is unsettling from its perch. That would explain the knock, but the bouncing everywhere leads me to think the shocks have gone bad. It wouldn't surprise me either way.

I just realized im an idiot and ****ed with the preload instead of the adjustment. I just didnt think about it. Which is sad because i've messed with the height before.
Alright now that i know the problem, hopefully I didnt **** up my coils. anyway I can set them back the original preload spec?
Can I just drop the rings all the way down, make the spring loose, tighten them up to set it back to 0?

Let's get this out there for the new guys:
Changing ride height by adjusting the spring perch isn't bad. That's how one-piece coilovers do it and have done it for years and years before Taiwan's two-piece designs flooded the market.
Morasso - thread your spring perches back up and adjust your lower mount. There's no reason not to do it that way given the chance. The benefit is good pre-load and not shortening your shock stroke.

im working on it now.
See I spun my spring gears up to raise it. So right now im lowering them and ill adjust from the bottom perch.
