weird clutch issue...
Ok, so I did a few hard runs back to back the other day (about 3 or 4). On the last attempted run I pushed the clutch down and it stayed down and I could not get the car in gear. The first thing I obviously thought was -bad slave cylinder- but I pulled up the clutch and I was able to put it in gear and my reservior is complete full w/ good fluid. It was a little hard at first (had a notchy feel) but eventually smoothed out the next day. Ever since this incident occurred my clutch doesn't seem to engage properly either. When taking off (usually happens in 1st and 2nd) you can hear the clutch sliding up against the flywheel and then it'll finally catch as I let off the clutch. Transmission is also making a very slight whining sound too that corresponds with engine speed whether in or out of gear. So, slipping clutch? Faulty pressure plate? Bad throwout bearing causing whining sound? Maybe a combination of all 3? Thanks for the help in advance!
i would say that the whining noise is definately related to the throw out bearing. same thing happened to me. i would replace that first to see if that solves your problems, then move on to the slave cylinder next, followed by the clutch, etc...
I'm going to be replacing the whole clutch assembly w/ an ACT or SPEC unit. I currently have an XTD Stage 1 in the transmission but I've heard varying reviews on this product so I'll just do it right the 2nd time around. Lesson well learned...

I love exedy oem replacement clutches.. they actually hold up to quite some power.. not sure about the 300 mark though.. On my boosted single cam I went with a 6puck unsprung ACT and ACT HD pressure plate and it was the best $500 bucks i spent

bleed the clutch line first maybe you have air in the line and thats what is causing your issue if not then take your transmission off and see what the problem is. but it sounds like a clutch line problem to me
What would cause air to get trapped in the line if it was bled properly in the first place?
a leak.. after doing a few heavy shifts a small leak in the line somewhere would cause it to not function right. if you bleed it again and it works fine then you have a leak somewhere in the line
yeah, bled the system, still the same issue... I'm guessing pressure plate. Hopefully all will be fixed when I change out the whole Clutch assembly...
change your lines first... sometimes its better to change some things just in case that is the issue, you wouldn't want to waste your time going thru the mission of taking off the transmission...
Suggestions on a clutch kit for a 300whp B16A3? I'm going to be ordering this sometime tomorrow if I can figure out what I need to get... Everyone's help has been much appreciated... :D
had a fidenza in both my z28 and mustang GT.. they did really well.. i went with the 4.3 series..if you have the extra $$ go for the fly wheel as well
Well, after bleeding the clutch and checking my lines it finally came down to yanking the transmission off and this is what I found.... blah... lesson well learned.... I have read reviews here on HT of someone giving a good review and then a few months later re-posting and saying that the clutch just gave out on them all of a sudden. I will be posting in that thread as well. I take any review that I read w/ a grain of salt especially when there is no proof of what happen, how it was installed and how the car was driven. Ladies and gentlemen I am here to help clear up any confusion on this subject... XTD=CRAP!!!

Wow, i've never seen a clutch do that before.
Personally I've always stuck with Exedy clutches, being that they are an OEM supplier.
I wouldn't recommend it for daily driving, but I had it in my b16a3 Del sol VTEC, turbo probably around 270 hp. It was the exedy stage2, 3 puck sprung hub with their lightweight flywheel. It held it awesome, but your left calf would burn after driving it in traffic.
Good luck, and thanks for the info. XTD = avoid
