Default EF hatch positive camber issue.

Hey guys. I tried searching around for this but couldn't find any posts with the same issue as mine.

I recently purchased a 90 civic hatch with a b18a1 swap and lowered on ebay coil sleeves with what appears to be oem struts (im gonna go ahead and assume the original struts but i really don't know.) Needless to say it rides like ***

Anyway, the car has positive camber issues in the front and the tires wear really quickly on the outside edges. I killed a new set of tires in like 3 -4 weeks. I'm really confused because lowered cars usually have negative camber and wear on the inside edge. Does anyone have any idea why i would have positive camber? I took a look and I'm fairly certain i DON'T have a camber kit. I know I made the problem worse when i raised the car up a little bit but it had positive camber before I adjusted anything. The tires that came on it were worn on the outside the same way my new ones ended up.

I know I need an alignment anyway but I'm planning on replacing the struts and springs so i've been holding off. I wasn't sure if I would be able to find a shop willing to align it with the cheap suspension currently installed.

I'm just really confused as to how my car would end up with positive camber when it was slammed as low as the coil sleeves would let it go.

Anyone have any ideas what I should look for? Should i just wait and put the new struts and springs on and see how it looks after an alignment?

Thanks.

Also can anyone make any recommendations as far as struts and springs? I don't have a ton of money to spend right now but i really need to get something on here that functions.

I was thinking of either going with either Tokico blue or the KYB AGX struts and I had no clue what i wanted for springs. I don't really want to drop to low though. It'll be street driven every day mixture of highway, back road rural, and city driving in an area known for pot-holes. I'll settle for a stiffer ride if it means better handling.

I know the Koni yellows are really popular but I'm just not sure i have the cash for those right now and as i said, i just need to get something on the car so I can maybe have at least a little bit of traction. I can save up for something nicer at a later date.

Ok, thats exactly what I was thinking of doing. Probably gonna get the Blues but if I can get enough cash for the illuminas I might go that direction.

You don't think my positive camber is strange tho? Any body have any idea why I would have positive camber?

tokico illuminas and eibach pro kits give my ef hatch negative camber and its not too low (i can still barely fit a standard hydraulic floor jack underneath it). tokico blues are a waste of money because you can't adjust them. the kyb agx struts are the cheapest adjustable but they're not great (and a friend of mine blew his after light use). the illuminas and koni sports (yellows) are the way to go. i use both koni sports and tokico illuminas right now (both cars are on eibach pro-kits). do it right the first time!

what size are the brakes up front? if they are the 10.2" brakes the might have used the integra spindles which does create positive camber. if they are the civic spindles, I would check to see if the spindles might be bent or maybe if the upper or lower control arms or torsion bars might be bent as well. these are just a couple of possibilities.

as for your tires weraing in 3-4 weeks. I can guarantee you that is from a your toe being off not because of the camber. even with a lot of positive or negative camber, you WILL NOT burn through tires that quickly. that is most definitely from your toe being way off.

Most likely the spindles are bent causing the excessive positive camber.
I remember several years ago it was customary for alignment and performance shops to bend the spindles to correct for negative camber on lowered Hondas(before camber kits). It is possible that the previous owner had this done if the car was lowered.

Ok, thanks everyone, I'll check the spindles. Is there anyway to determine if i have the proper ones or should I just go ahead and purchase some Integra spindles and try them out?

I'm probably gonna try and get the Illuminas and some springs as soon as I can, then I'll find some were to get it aligned. How much do you guys think the positive camber will affect my handling? It's just in the front, I took a look at the back and its got slight negative camber.
