Default Oil Filter Question

I search around but couldn't find a definitive answer, does anyone know the difference between these two oil filters, 15400-PLC-004 and 15400-PLX-004?

i believe the PLX is the s2000 filter with slightly larger or more holes and more centered.

Because I'd prefer not to.

Well, it seems there is a large debate, the OEM filters are made by a company who also owns fram, and there is an argument that they are essentially fram filters. While I cant say if this is true or not I'd like to use the filter made by toyo roki

Toyo Roki changed their name in '08. Now they're simply called ROKI. LoL!

WEBSITE: http://www.roki-jp.com/english/products/index.html

No matter...

Honda doesn't make oil filters. They farm out production to various manufacturers.

Last I heard...

If the filter says "Made in USA", it's made by Filtech (owned by ROKI) -- but it's a total POS!

WEBSITE: http://www.filtechusa.com/productoverview.asp

If the filter says "Made in Canada", it's supposedly made by ROKI -- but the construction looks identical to a 2/$5 Walmart Fram filter, minus the Radiation Orange paint job. Speculation is, it's made by AlliedSignal, aka Honeywell International, same as Fram.

If the filter says "Made in Japan" (e.g. S2000 filter) it's a genuine ROKI.

Jap ROKI filters ROCK!

JDM ROKI filters use steel end caps (not cardboard), a steel bypass valve (not plastic) with a V stiff coil spring (not a flat one), and the paper media looks similar in thickness and quality to other premium filters, like the Purolator PureONE (my personal favorite).

Heh! I remember when the only way you could get a genuine JDM ROKI oil filter was to buy a S2000 -- or get someone in Japan or Australia to send you one. There was a bitch storm in the North American community about it, and Honda finally started shipping them to the US. But, initially, they were (like) $35 each. No Kidding!

Anyway, that's all I know about them...

unless you ran full synthetic, did you not regularly change your oil and filter?
