Default Temp Gauge Reading Hot

I searched, and all I could find were threads about the gauge not working at all, or reading too low.

Anyway, car is an EG hatch with a B16A2 swap and my ****ing temp gauge reads all the way hot. I'm sick of ****ing with this car.

I had to swap a new transmission in the car a few days ago and during that swap apparently the connector came off of it and also came off the wire, so there was just a bare wire next to the sensor. I wrapped the wire around the sensor thinking OK fixed, but now it reads all the way hot.

What do I need to do to make my temp gauge read right???

No no, there is no connector is what I'm saying, just the sensor sticking out of the head with the wire wrapped around the end of it. I guess a new connector?
