Temp Gauge not working

Re: Temp Gauge not working
To test it, find the temp sending unit with one wire. Remove the wire, it just pops off. Making sure key is off, ground the wire, that you just pulled off. Then go inside, while watching the gauge turn the key to on real quick and then right back off. The needle should jump all the way up. if it does, then the sending unit is the problem. If it doesnt then it is a wiring/or gauge issue.

Re: Temp Gauge not working
I was going to say just splice into teh ECT sensor, but they may be different ranges, plus, having two sensors on the same circuit could get ugly if they are different ranges, and one craps out on you. You need to figure out the range of the gauge, and the range of the new one wire sensor. If they are the same, then run a new wire from the sensor, to the gauge.
Best thing is to get the wiring diagram and you can take it from there.

Re: Temp Gauge not working
Tried it which way? You confirmed that both the sending unit and the gauge are the same range, and then ran a new wire from the sending unit to the resistance input of the gauge? Figuring out which wire to the gauge is the resistance and the voltage?
