Prelude Exhaust suggestions?
Hey I have a 93 prelude vtec, and the owner prior to me put on a ricy 3" exhaust. I was wondering what would be a good affordable exhaust. I was really interested in the apexi ws2 or GReddy evo2, but they are not affordable right now. hahaha
So I was just wondering if anyone had a good exhaust setup that is fairly quiet and has nice low tone to it, for somewhat cheap. Thanks!

Well for the 3" I'd keep it for sure maybe change the muffler if its too loud for you.
But 3" should be really good for the h22 vtec engine
we are talking about what 3-5hp maybe over 2.5" setup, I think there was some dyno sheet around some time ago

If you want something cheap with decent quality go to a muffler shop and tell them to make you a 2 1/4 piping exhaust (or however big you want) from your cat to your muffler...If you dont have a muffler they should have a "stock looking" one in stock to weld in place...This will keep it quiet...
If you want performance with great quality go with RSR ///thread

What I've heard is that its good quality nice and quiet. But not stainless.. and only 2.25" i think

If you can find a skunk2 catback exhaust system go with that, like around $400-$550 new, 2.37" piping.....or apexi N1 catback exhaust system $400-$600 new, 2.5" piping.....if you want the most bang for your buck.......then again you can save even more money by getting a custom exhaust job with the size specs of the piping of your choice, bigger is not necessarily better......3" or bigger exhaust usually go good with higher horsepower engines or projects, if you are trying to just do I/H/E.....go 2.25-2.5" on the piping, and i recommend SMSP headers to give you the most output with a setup like that, but they aren't cheap......if you want cheap go DC2 ceramic, or Megan Racing stainless steel headers, which will run you usually $200-300.........

Now for an educated answer:
If you want to revert back to stock, do it. Go to a salvage yard, cut it off, and weld it on.
If you want performance, leave the 3" piping and just replace the muffler with something you like. Check the official muffler soundclip thread. Pick one. I would also suggest adding one or two resonators.
If it doesn't already have a decent header, look into something OTHER than Megan or DC. They are a complete waste of money. No gain for lots of $.

Mine is loud but mostly because of the tri-y header and no cat. Had the guy install the header and build from there back with a flex pipe, resonator and I supplied a new HKS Hi Power titanium muffler. I should really add to the exhaust thread, don't think anyone has a set up like mine.
