This is the bottom of the shifter underneath the car. It is some kind of boot that goes around the bottom of the shifter. I think it is why my shifter moves left and right while it is in gear considering I already replaced the shift linkage bushings from energy suspension and it only fixed another problem. That looks about right. Hopefully I don't buy it and find out I don't need it. So you experienced the left to right movement while still in gear, correct? And when this item was replaced you had no movement afterward? I appreciate your help! Thanks!!

 

Yes, I had the exact same problem. The shifter had a tremendous amount of play while in gear. Once I replaced it, it was normal again.
