Icon2 Buying high mileage Integras: advice

Hey, I'm looking at a couple high mileage integras (350000km+) and I was wondering what kinds of things I should be looking for. I've owned Civics in the past, but never knew anyone with an integra. I'm only considering these cars because money is a little tight and the price seems right (~$800CDN). Thoughts?

Thanks.

Edit: I should also specify they are 3rd gen(1995-1996) models.

sounds cheap...whats that in US dollars? but if it has service records and they show all the major things done then youre probably okay. still needs a compression test at a minimum in my opinion with those miles and i'd block test it to make sure the head gasket is good. is it manual? if so, hows the clutch feeling?

No, Canadian dollars. I'm going to go see it tonight. Clutch and brakes were done Sept. 2009. If its running smooth when I see it, I don't mind having to do some engine work in a few months, but I'm really more worried about the body.

the body rusts in these interior locations:

- under the driver's left foot resting position / dead pedal
- at the rear of the vehicle inside the hatch / trunk lid
- bottom of the door opening, underneath that plastic piece that holds the carpet in place

With that many miles most of the suspension bushings will probably be worn out. The bushings are fairly cheap, it is the installation that is expensive (unless you do it yourself). The problem is that some of the bushings are not all that easy to replace on your own.

Just expect some to alot of work needed in high mileage cars. Yet it depends on the previous owners. You get what you pay for.

yep i had a guy offer me 700 bucks for my integra if i wanna sell it LOL completely rebuilt motor like 5000 miles ago, new clutch, new axles, rebuilt trans (only needed to be resealed) complete energy suspension bushing kit, new brakes and rotors, new starter 8000miles ago (about 4 years ago), odyssey battery, new radiator with the engine rebuild, all new hoses and belts, and motor mounts, new shocks/struts, new fuel injectors, all new lines/hoses (including the ones on the fuel tank), new sunroof gasket and seals (no leaks), everything works, (except the power raise radio antana LOL), new tires 5000 miles ago, new air filter, new fuel filter, all new sensors, new pcv valve, aftermarket sway bars, new pumps with the rebuild also. IDK what else but i'm not sellin for 700 bucks due to the 270000 miles LOL i'm goin for 1000000 if i start driving it more LOL

yeah that sounds like a good price. i'm about to have mine repainted just because the roof in now pink-ish LOL gonna stay with the factory color though. i just dont know what i would consider a fair price. i have way more into it but i'm thinking 2500 as it is but only because i know i'll never get what i have into it but its running awsome. maybe better than it did when i got it in 96. i drove it around the block 2 weeks ago and i got on it down the wide open street that runs behind my house. they street race down that street sometimes and i can watch from my backyard looking over the wall ) i hit 100 in 3rd with no problem when i opened it up. then i just did a U-turn and parked it in the garage again LOL i like my teg cause i've had it so long. same with my 82 mustang GT. had that since 2000. if i sell my ride i just want a fair price and i wan it to go to a good owner who will treat it right but you know how that goes LOL but i think 2 grand that you paid is a fair price and even better since your happy with it.

check for cancer on body panels, the underneath of the car for rust, both are no no's for safety in Ontario.

You can do without A/C specially since your way up north, but you better test the heater cause these cars are famous for blocked heater cores.

check all switches to see if they operate
the susp ofcourse
and finally a leakdown,comp test.

BTW there many many integra's in the GTA with that price tag and with alot less mileage,
this deal aint no steal if you ask me.

hell it only took me a minute to find this guy
1994 ACURA INTEGRA : 1100 CDN , 5 Speed New Clutch Etested 9052400399 or text at 4168839344 email: al_delpiero_7@hotmail.com

BTW 1100 is CDN is about 1000 U.S and with 230k km's or 144k miles, a new clutch and already passed emmisions, now thats a steal!

damn LOL i didnt replace my clutch in my GS integra till 260,000 miles. it got really bad about 248000 miles but i babied it till i decided to put some love back into it LOL. 144k makes me wonder if it was replaced out of love, due to abuse, or if thats normal average clutch life on that model....any insight on that? (the clutch life)
