Help motor shut off after cam gear install
sooo i have a problem here i recently installed adjustable cam gears in my B18b1 no other mods done to as of yet but just waiting to get my new block complete so i can finish my build ANYWAYS this is what ive done i set everything at TDC take a look at this pic to see if anything looks off maybe? <a href="http://s25.photobucket.com/albums/c71/Xapathyisdeadx/?action=view¤t=CIMG1093.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c71/Xapathyisdeadx/CIMG1093.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
it ran fine for a while and no knocking or anything and i started back up and it just shut off while i was standing over it listening to it, since then ive tried re adjusting the cams but still no luck (i have new spark plug wires and spark plugs)

It sounds electrical, but no one can tell from this little info, and as for the pictures they look fine but at this view all I can tell is that there are cams at tdc, you could have half your internals missing and no one could tell.
I'd like to see a top down picture, or a picture of something that could cause this...
Did it shut off like when you turn the key or stall (or did it grind to a stop)?
Did you try to turn it back on?
And what did it do when you tried?
also just out of the blue: OP, is Dr. Pepper popular where your from?

well it was just sitting at idle and i was standing in front of the car with it on and it just stalled out at idle and im not getting a spark at all from my dizzy i pulled out a plug and grounded it and no spark at all =[ the crank is also at tdc i had the crank pulley off changing timing belt and so i could get a stripped belt tensioner bolt out everything's put back correctly, what could have happened? dizzy blow out? coil? ive seen some other posts similar but no real answer to it, thanks!
and also when i tried to crank it back up the motor just turns over doesn't even sound like its trying to start, its not getting a spark at all from what i can tell but i had the cam gears in and drove it for maybe 15 minuets or so everything fine next day start it after adjusting the timing and it started up but then quit like i said. just sounded like it lost all spark as for pictures ill try to snap a few more, i dont hav any
DR. Pepper is the best

ok so i just got the coil tested and it was only putting out 9. on the secondary (normal is between 12.7 and 16) so guess time to replace the coil hope thats all that went bad
ok so the coil was it stuck a new one in and it cranked the first time =D, now for someone that has more knowledge than me on the cam tuning should the cams be set at TDC along with the crank, i had the crank at TDC and tuned the cams to line up with the cam cap holes (if you know what im talking about, its that round hold that's in the end cap and on the cam itself) im wanting to make sure this is set correctly, and also do aftermarket cam gears make some noise compared to stock ones ? mine sure do seem like they are makin some noise
yea there torqued ita the 5 bolt design but it sure does make some sound and also how tight should the timing belt be, like across the 2 cam gears mine is pretty tight maybe i tensioned the timing belt to much ?
