Hey i have a b16a obd0 and it just started running weird. In any gear im driving if i press the gas firmly to pick up speed it will sputter and run lean on my wideband, it even happends at a dead stop if i press the gas from 0 to 25% it will ether die out or sputter bad... im thinking its a distributor probblem so i order a new cap and rotor cause it has the msd ignition with a ss blaster coil so i need the modified cap. It could be any of those things but if anyone has had the same probblem of suggestions please help thanks!!

 

Check for spark. How strong is the spark? You could try to re-install the factory ignition coil and see what happens. If it improves things, look into the msd and coil and wiring. If it doesn't help, look into plugs, wires and check wiring to dizzy, ecu. Its a starting point at least.

If I understand correctly, when you give the engine load, you get a sputtering that you feel is coming from the ignition. Truthfully it could be anything in your ignition system but for what it's worth, same thing happened to me and it was a bad/old msd blaster 2 coil. It quickly deteriorated and got worse and worse over a few weeks. I verified fuel pressure was ok and determined it was producing a weak spark. Replaced the coil and fixed it.

 

Ya i want to put it back to stock but i cant find the stock coil... but my coil is the newer ss blaster coil but it still could be that. Im really thinking its the dizzy cause the i took off the cap and the in sides of the dizzy looked like the spark was jumping and made the in side look kinda burnt.
