What clutch to handle forced induction
Whats up ht just wondering If anyone can help me figure out what clutch would be right for my setup. I have a high compression B18B and b16 lsd tranny, the car has an off brand stage 3 clutch which was destroyed last weekend after some hard launches.
In about a month I have a turbo setup w/ an HX35 i put together that Im putting on. Motor will have srp pistons and eagle rods. Power goals are 350 plus HP. Untill i get my beater going I have to still drive this car.
Question is what brand clutch would be able to handle 350-400HP? I was looking into comp clutch stage 4: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Compe...#ht_2777wt_939
After some reaserch I heard they like to scratch at high rpm shifts.
My budget is somewhat tight being i just bought all my internals.
any suggestions would be great thanks.

i heard CC is terrible, and wont last for more than like 2 months or something like that. people often say go with exedy clutches. i wouldnt know which stage, but i know that CC is bad.
Figure how much torque you will be making and buy your clutch based on that not hp.if you look at the clutch companies websites they rate them on torque numbers.
See if you can find dyno charts of a similar setup to what yours will be and go from there.

When I was shopping around I saw they usually rated them by percentage over stock. On ebay theres a cc stage 5 4 puck for $354. It says It can handle 300% over stock. That should be good right? Any one have first hand experience on them?

I prefer the CC the guy above, who bashed them, prolly has never even owned one and just thread surfs all day. local shop uses CC stage 5 in every single one of there turbo cars, i personally use a CC stage 2
That local shop probably does not race at the track with that clutch. Why don't you research before you praise that clutch.
To the OP if it's just a street car that will never see the track the CC clutch will hold up fine. But if go the the track you will have problems miss shifting and the clutch probably will not last. Do a search, I am not the only one that hate's CC for track use. I had three go bad on a b-series(two in one month!) and one on a H-series.

We've had a ton of issues with CC clutches ( mostly on K setups ) , we've installed a good amount, and now if a customer ask to use a CC clutch or brings one in for an install, it comes with a warning.
Right now im only at 293/211 but im going to be turning the boost up after import alliance.
im going to do 14-16psi on my Gt3255E and E85, im hoping for somewhere around 400whp/250+wtq. I just dont wanna have to drive to TN on E85, searching for stations will suck, so im going to keep it pump gas until after july
I went with the stage 5 just in case i decide to sleeve and go big turbo next year.
And the throwout bearing issue was a whirring sound, it didnt actually go out. I took my transmission off and replaced it just in case though. Cheap fix really

For second, have you ever thought maybe you cant drive? I mean who breaks 2 clutchs in one month
I have a competition clutch "stage 5" sprung. It works great for me. I make 380whp and beat on it every weekend. Never had a problem with it. I have had it in since Feb 2008 and still going strong so far. The car is getting retuned for more boost and e85 probably gonna be around 450whp so we will see what happens then.
I kills me though what makes a stage 4 different from a stage 5? Is it just a name to make it sound great? What about ACT are there "stages" identical to cc? Its just something to think about
You don't have any personnel experience so there I'm not even going to comment farther. If I was the only person this has happened to then maybe I'd say it was my fault. But many people has this issue. Only thing I changed in my car was the clutch and ran 10.9 Ran it for a year with no issues I had with that CC.
I like action clutch's. I have the 1MS kit and its pretty cool. I have friends using the 2MS kit cause it handles more power and they havent had any problems with them.
