hey everybody so I was thinking about buying a s2k.

Ive been looking and Ive found one that I like but the only problem is that it has a cel light on.

What he says is the air pump code p0410.

So what I am wondering is how much would it cost to fix this problem if I were to buy this car?

Its salvaged title due to light fender bender and broken headlight on drivers side but its fixed now.

Would it be a good buy if those two were the only things wrong with it? Price listed is 8500. How much do you think I should offer?

 

i also wanted to add what if I were to leave that problem there would it damage the car severely in anyway in the long run or short run?

 

What year? Color? Mileage?

It doesn't matter what "he" says. The CEL could be something more serious. If its just the air pump, you can salvage one at a junk yard.

But give us the year, mileage, etc and what condition the car is in and we will be able to tell ya if 8500 is good.

yea thats what im afraid of. that the cel is something more serious, but i wouldnt know how to tell if there is anything wrong right away.

 

never trust a salesman, they will say whatever it takes to get you to buy the car.

 

Well on his post it says the cons were

-the radio on the car was locked when i replaced the battery
all you have to do is call the honda dealership for the lockout code
-check engine light is on but i have a receipt from AAMCO where they diagnosed it is the air pump(code p0410)
-needs airbags
-thats basically it

yea i know to never trust a salesman so should i just look for another car?

I might bring a mechanic with me to take a look at the car, but anyone know what the cost is to fix the air pump code?


I also took another look at the post and i missed the need to replace airbags part.. probably reconsidering this car. know reason to have airbags gone unless it was deployed in a bad accident..

 

i just fixed my air pump code. seems sooo hard its very frustrating. do it right now big deal. either a vacuum leak. the pump is melted. or pump relay fuse. very easy fix. unless its the pump but you can get a used one for like 200.

Guy is out of his mind with that price, best case, you need airbags,air pump but you are still buying a salvage title car. I would want to get the car on a alinment rack and see if that "fender bender" was a frame bender. I would want to see the code myself cuz car dealers lie.

not a penny over 5 grand, and if he goes for that, you know there is more wrong with the car.

 

^ This is what I was going to point out. I doubt he's telling you the truth about the extent of the damage. I would take a nice look at the engine bay, check the core support for any bends, or newer welds.

IMO I'd just keep searching for another S2k.

 

From my experiences buying vehicles, I would just be patient. There will always be another s2k. Don't just 'settle' with this one because it's cheap.

This is like those commercials for CarFax - light fender bender, needs new air bags.

 

isn't the air pump on the driver side, that is probably why their is a CEL. it must have been damaged in the crash
