1989 prelude wheel bearing replacement problem.
my friend has a 1989 prelude that he bought with a jdm h22 swap in it. im about to buy this car off him cheap since he is tired of messing with it. the car ran fine for 4 months and then the wheel bearing started making noise. he took the parts to a shop and they told him the hub was bad too so he ordered a brand new oem wheel bearing and hub from honda for an 89 prelude. he got the bearing pressed in and now the axle hits the bearing and wont go into the hub all the way so he cant connect his lower ball joint. my thoughts are either they gave him the wrong bearing, the wrong hub, or with the swap, he has to use a dif bearing/hub setup. do you have any ideas? the bearing sticks out of the hub a little and the axle is hitting the bearing
I would look at the part numbers for the axles that he got, and get the corresponding wheel bearing, and maybe hub for the one that will fit. Dont kno if it will work

1. What axle combo did he use, because the only ones to work on the H swap for the 3rd gens is the 90-93 Accord axles. Other than that, you have to order the axles directly from www.raxles.com
2. Is he using the 88-89 hubs - 26 spline count, or did he swap to the 90-91 hubs? They are different and the 90-91 hubs have more splines - 28
And where did your friend get his mounts to do the H swap? I am the second originator of this H swap and sell the AZ Race H22 swap kit. Unless he is using the old Place Racing H22 swap kit.

The questions to ask is:
1. What axle combo did he use, because the only ones to work on the H swap for the 3rd gens is the 90-93 Accord axles. Other than that, you have to order the axles directly from www.raxles.com
i don't know what axle combo was used because like i said, the kid bought the car off someone and has no way to contact the old owner, although i do know that the axle in the car now fits the hub fine, and the hub he ordered is an oem 89 prelude hub. the only problem is when u put the axle into the hub, its slides in fine, just not far enough due to it hitting the bearing. its as if the bearing is too wide for the hub.
2. Is he using the 88-89 hubs - 26 spline count, or did he swap to the 90-91 hubs? They are different and the 90-91 hubs have more splines - 28

i went and took the knuckle to another shop and they said the bearing isn't sticking out of the hub like i thought. the bearing is pressed into the hub correctly and everything on that end is fine...so now i have no idea why the axle wont go in all the way for me to tighten the axle nut all the way and connect teh lower ball joint. the axle diden't come apart because it was never even taken out of the tranny
