Default Wiper Malfunction, can't solve

So, on the way home from work about a week ago, I accidentally hit a pothole. All of a sudden my wipers went across once. I just assumed the impact pushed my wiper lever back. Well, on the way home from class today, I had the wipers specifically on Low for a 45 minute drive home. When I pulled in and turned them off, they stayed on Low. They change from Low to High and vise versa, but stay on Low when changed to Intermittent and Off. What's the problem? When turn the lever, I'll hear a relay click when I go into INT and Off. Until I find the problem, I suppose I'll just pull the fuse when it's sunny and pop it back in when it rains.

Its more then likely going to be you wiper motor, but it can be your switch. If u have a friend with the same car try using there wiper switch and see if it solves the problem. Most of these parts are pretty cheap at a pick and pull scrap yard.

Yeah, I was thinking it's the switch. I had to swap one on a Jeep and I just don't enjoy pulling the column apart

Could someone help me through this process? I have the steering column unbolted and snapped off and I've taken two small screws out that went into the Wiper switch assembly. I don't know where to go after this though. The switch doesn't pull out and I don't know where there are other screws in it. I wanna do this without pulling the wheel. Any help?

What makes you feel it's the wiper motor? I've never heard of an electrical motor receiving more power at different times based on switch control (not that it has any control over it, or anything...).

@ OP: It sounds like you're on the right track with the wiper switch - Unfortunately I can't really help you with the process, been too long since I took the wheel apart, but IIRC, you don't have to pull the wheel, just slide the switch out. I don't recall where all the screws are and such, though..

I actually found a manual. I already did everything. Pull the cover off, remove the two screws. I just need to pry it out, I was scared at first doing that but since the mani says it, I should be good. The wiper motor comment confused me as well, haha.

So I swapped in a new switch and still the same problem. Where do I go now? Mew motor, wiper control unit? I want to try the unit but I don't know where it is. Can anyone give me insight?

Is what I need to replace the control unit that connects in the back of the under dash fuse box? Will any 96-00 box suffice?
