Default H22 swap tranny ?

I did a search and check the FAQ, but did not find an answer to my question.

As much as I like the H22 swap, the one thing that is starting to nag at me is how high the rpm's are at 70mph, over 3600 rpm and at 80, over 4000rpm. It feels like I should have a 6th gear.

So, my question is what other tranny will fit into the H22? I hope that whatever recommendations/suggestions there are, the tranny will be readily available and not break the bank.

Thanks in advance for all replies.

Mike

F Series Tranny should bolt straight up, and will have taller gears.

Glassjaw is right. One from 94-02 accord 4cyl. But it will kill your acceleration. Is your trans a USDM M2F4?

I have an H22 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and f series 5th in my accord. This can be done with modification, the 5th gears has to be shaved down a little thinner to fit. But it will give you good acceleration as well as a low rpm 5th gear! they have the same exact case just the location of the stud for the tranny mount is different which can be removed and put in the extra hole for the accord mount.

I heard the best combo would be a H23 trans. Not too short and not too tall.

I'm using this with my bluetop H23V. I like it more than my old F22 tranny, but 70 mph on the highway no longer results in 30 mpg. Great for daily driving, though.

H22 tranny with F22 5th if I had to do it again.

The JDM Prelude M2A4 has a longer (lower rpm) 5th gear than the H23 trans.
