Timing belt seems loose
i built a motor over the winter and i finally was able to run it the other week. i noticed though that my timing belt seemed pretty loose in some areas through out its rotations. I used a gsr pump and belt. the block is a usdm type r block that was taken down .020 and a b16 head that was taken down .007 just to be resurfaced. I used a standard OE thickness Cometic gasket.
So what could be the problem? it looks like the tensioner is maxed. Should i switch back to an LS pump and belt, i never had this problem before with them. Or could it be that my cams need to be adjusted for the material that has been removed? i do have adjustable time gears on it anyway, but they are just type r cams, nothing wild.
any help would be great. i have considered replacing the belt, pump and tensioner all at once but i would like to avoid that if possible.
