Default Air Impact Help

I bought an Ingersoll-Rand Air impact. (2135QTIMAX) This gun claims to have 780 lbs of torque in reverse. I have a 5.4 SCFM 15 gallon Air compressor and the regulator is set at 90 PSI. http://www.dewalt.com/tools/compress...ic-d55168.aspx

http://www.amazon.com/Ingersoll-Rand...3349931&sr=8-7

This is my first air impact I have always done things by hand. Am I wrong but I figured this would have little trouble removing lugs nuts of a Jeep Liberty. I couldn't get this impact to break them I had to do it by hand with a breaker bar.

The only thing I can think of that might be causing a problem is maybe my 1/4 hose. I found one site that said 3/8's hosed but I found nothing coming directly from Ingersoll-Rand.

Thank you

1/4 line is the problem that impact requires lots of CFM also the 90psi didnt help it breath either. Turn the air up and get a 3/8 hose it will bring that thing to life.

What you guys are saying makes sense. I went up and bought 50' of 3/8 hose. I have been doing some reading and it seems it was a likely problem. I played with it a little bit but it was getting dark and cold so I put it off until tomorrow.

C5R it says the Max PSI is 90 but that seems low to me. I even turned it down from 100 where I run it for my nail guns.

Thanks for the input guys

yes thats what they say but higher air pressure wont hurt. race teams run there tools on 200+ psi off co2 and dont have problems. the air pressure is not a concern. also the pressure will help for a lack of cfm.

Cool. Seemed to me that 90 Psi is low. Thanks for the help.

problem is you bought the Q.. the q means quiet which also means lameeeee. They quiet it down but also decrease performance. I tried it and it would even break strut bolts loose. Buy the regular 2135
