cranshaft pulley bolt unbelievably hard to get off.
I had my cranshaft off before to do a timing belt. and i wanted to change out my crank pulley and its soo hard to get off now. i have the proper tool (crank pulley wrench)to do it but are there any ideas to make it come out easier? i soaked it in penetrating oil and am letting it sit for awhile. but i had a pipe attached to my half-inch wrench and i still cant get it too break free. any tips ideas?
i use a mac impact gun/wrench (gun sounds cooler though LOL) its got 625 foot pounds of torque but it has issues 5% of the time. breaker bars and cheater bars work. use craftsman breaker bars because they snap like twigs too sometimes. a gym membership might help too LOL

not sure what you mean by this, but i have never had this issue with the threads or the bolt heads on the crank bolt. i have broke heads off with it, and i have seen guys strip lug nuts or snap the wheel studs, but not the threads on the crank bolt. but still wondering what youre meaning by this...as in how this could have happened to you.....
not talking about the crank bolt but bolts in general. my experience when i used an impact gun to pull the bolts out of the rear LCAs it crushed the threads on the bolts on both sides. maybe i did it wrong im just saying
impact gun is the way to go but if you dont have that..what I did was put it in 5th and have my buddy hold the brake while I cranked the hell out of it with a breaker bar. it broke the bolt though. so be careful..hahah
I guess I was lucky when I did mine. All I used was like a 2ft long extension and a half inch breaker bar. I wedged a screwdriver into the starter gear to keep everything still and used the end of my jack handle as a cheater bar. It broke free after a few good stomps.
