Need Help swapped a d16y8 on 96 honda del sol (stock d16y7)
my friend just swapped in a d16y8 on his honda del sol
he got a full swap with p2p ecu wire harness and everything off of a 97 del sol. when we were ready to plug everything in the harness didnt connect to the connectors next to the battery i think two connection didnt fit. So what we did is use the original alternator, dizzy, intake, ecu, and harness. But he dont have vtec now. What can be done about this. He cant even use the intake because of the connections on some sensor. Whats the best thing to do here.

Well you've definetly got a job here: the 96 del sol is most likely still an obd1 system and the 97 is obd2: The best thing to do is to get a HONDA repair manual for both the 96 and the 97 vehicles.
With the 97 ecu installed (did it even plug in under the dash??) and the y7 harness on the engine you will need to figure out which sensors you will need to use with the new setup including vtec (this is why the vtec dont work because its simply not wired up yet). You will need to add them into the harnesses by yourself using the wiring diagrams in the manual. this can get very very confusing so if you dont trust yourself to the job then take it to a reputable honda shop. or you can always bring it to PA and ill do it for you!! haha. No really all joking aside this can get pretty complex and you may find yourself so frustrated and overwhelmed your ready to quit DONT! be patient and persistent. try to find someone who has done a similar conversion. www.hondaswap.com

92-95 is obd1 96-97 is obd2. aside from that not sure why your engine harness doesnt connect to the shock tower plugs. usually obd1 or obd2 engine harness will plug right up to eg/dc shock tower plugs.
