Hi everyone,
I have a 2001 Honda Accord Coupe, automatic. I just brought it to AutoZone earlier today to check for any error codes and it passed. When I drive the car for a long distance, it starts having a hard time accelerating and picking up. I had the same problem last summer, but had the transmission fluid and spark plugs changed and all was good. Now the problem came back. Could it be the transmission or something minor? I'm taking it into Honda in the morning, but thought I'd ask here first.

Could be anything.

Taking it to Honda is not a bad idea. They have decent scan tools that allow them to monitor things like fuel controls, transmission shaft speeds ( to check for a slipping transmission ) and lots of other cool stuff. If the problem is intermittent, they may tell you they found nothing. Just make sure you are as detailed as possible with the service advisor when explaining your symptoms.

 

One time I had a customer complaint of poor acceleration. I found a very thick rubber floor mat doubled-up under the gas pedal.

Not trying to insult you, just saying, it happened.

 

hey monica. possibly you can tell the service advisor you want a vehicle check. you might get free advise on the problem. they might not charge either way but this might help.
