i bought a 1991 honda crx si about a month ago with intentions on putting a
b18c motor with turbo in it. That was before i knew that the motor in it currently was going to throw the rod threw the block last week. so finding a motor to put in fast and still turbo down the road i found a D16z6. the motor came with a 1988 honda hatch,trans and whole wiring harness.. The motor supposable is built for boost with eagle rods which i will find out this weekend when i take it apart. Now to my questions about the swap.

can i just take the motor from the hatch and basicly put right into my crx? or will the mounts need to be changed? and can i use the harness off the 1988 hatch in the crx? im going to be using a p28 ecu but need to purchase one first. what else should i look into and change when doing the swap...

also if any1 needs 1988 hatch parts for exterior and interior let me know ill see what it came with because car is going to junk yard when done taking motor out

It should bolt right in, using the same mounts that are on the motor. As for the harness, you always want to use the stock harness that is in the chassis, not that is on the motor. So I'd suggest just swapping the motor in, using what ever mounts you prefer, and stick with the harness that is in your crx.

 

im new to hondas so this may be a dumb questions but i havent really looked into the car because been busy at work but on the 88 hatch which has the motor and harness when i bought it was said that the harness has some kind of harness jumper or something like that to the ecu? is that transferable ?

 

Yes , you can swap that over. It should be an obd0 to obd1 jumper harness.

im going to go threw the d16z6 motor and replace most gaskets.. and try to get it put in if i run into trouble with wireing i will just post here again

 

today i bought all the gaskets i needed i believe. i bought them for a 94 honda civic 1.6l which should be the ones i need for a d16z6 motor correct?

d16z6 was from 92 to 95 honda civic? 1.6 l correct?
