Default Help diagnose my problem. b18

Hey my 90 integra ls has a problem, or soon to be problem I would like to prevent. When I start the car it knocks real bad in the head area which sounds like it's not getting enough oil, and leads me to think the oil pump is going bad. But after about 2-5 minutes of it idleing it will run fine. It's a basically stock ls motor unknown mileage, I don't beat on the car since it is my DD, have had it for like 3 months with no problems. The oil in it is about 2 months old and less then 1k miles on it. Does it sound like the oil pump is going out? Is there any way to prevent this as I would rather just pick up another motor then replace the oil pump.

Just looking for some guidance on how to diagnose this problem correctly. I will not be driving the car until I fix the problem since I have other ways of transportation.
