Default Head bolts 97ex vs 95dx?

My question is regarding the differences between head bolts on a 97 civic ex (D16Y8) and 95 civic dx (D15Y7). I put the latter's block in my 97 civic ex and am now having some problems getting my head to seal. My main question for everyone would be if the thread pitches are different? Or if the length is different? Please advise!

The '96-'00 D-series head bolts are shorter than the '88-'95 D-series ones.

It gets a little more complicated if you try to put a '96-'00 head on a '88-'95 block, or the opposite. You'd use 9 head bolts for the specific block you're using and 1 specific to the head you're using (in the back passenger side corner where the VTEC solenoid would be).

Thank you! Would using the 97 head bolts cause the head gasket to break?
