Default 97 civic passenger seat

97 civic passenger seat release problem

hey there i got a 2 door coupe 97 civic and it is becoming hard to get the kids in and out of the back seat since it is a 2 door and we just bought this car, is there a way to get the whole seat to slide forward from the bottom also, cause the black button the side of the seat only makes the back part swing forward and does not move the *** part, please email me if you can suggest anything this is getting nuts

also can anyone tell me a straight across seat swap if not, and the 1 more thing I would like to add in this coupe is a trunk light for my wife

I've yet to see one like that... my passenger seat moves all the way up from the side lever.

most likely its broken under there or something is not connected. the seat should slide foward when you hit the side lever on the passenger seat to let the seat flip foward. it may be just a spring broken from stuff being jammed under there. possibly the old owners of the car. my mom always has water bottles under the seats. that drives me nuts. you may need to replace the seat track with a junk yard one if its busted

there's a lever under the front of the seat that should make it slide forward when you lift it up. i have a 97 coupe too and i'm pretty sure mine has a trunk light, check to see if the bulb went out.

ok man i understand the front lever slides the bum part forward and back, and the side moves the back part tilts forward and back also, that works but the black lever the higher up one only moves the tilting parting and does not move the base of the seat in one shot, so it make is hard to get the kids in and out unless you manually slide the base forward and I did not see a trunk light in there at all

What does his trunk bulb have to do with his front passenger seat pushing forward?

I have the same problem on my own drivers seat. That lever should fold it down and push forward. You possibly have a bad track of maybe a bad spring. Neither are too serious.

Dude, pull the seat off and personally inspect it. You won't get anywhere by listening to us assume it's this or that. If you haven't looked, LOOK!

yeah remove the seat? flip it over and see if you see any broken parts. possibly go to a junk yard and find a good one and see what it looks like. compare it to yours

Ah, well nothing does the job better than literally looking at the assembly with it moving to see what part is damaged or missing. It's either a bad track or bad spring it seems so have at it.
