turbo integra oil pressure is dropping extremely low after boosting?
Hey guys I have a turbo integra 85mm sleeved block, RLZ engineered head that can handle 13,000 rpm, with a precision sc61, its making 438hp at 17lbs of boost.. now i know the turbo is going to need a rebuild because when i let off the gas it smokes pretty bad and when coming to a stop, and there is a little shaft play.. but the reason im writing today is because of the oil pressure dropping down to 6-10 when coming to a stop, and the car almost wants to stall.. sometimes it does.. I've had turbo'd integras before making the same power and the oil pressure in those cars were from 20-70.. a little help with what might be going on will be much appreciated
the only reason that the oil pressure is dropping that low is because the idle is dropping too low. you have to figure out why the idle is dropping too low and "almost dieing" when you resolve this issue you will fix your oil pressure problem as well.
I.E. your oil pump is powered by your crankshaft. Faster your engine spins, the more oil your pump moves. Inversely, the slower your engine is spinning, the less your oil pump is pumping. As your engine is beginning to stall, it is spinning the pump slower which is causing the extreme oil pressure drop that you are noticing. Get the engine to spin at the correct speed when it's supposed to, and the oil pressure should follow suit.
Cliffs Notes: Oil pressure is directly proportional to engine speed. (in general)

so really its in the tune then? cause when i got start the car in the morning it fires up oil pressures great, but then after i boost and come to a stop it drops super low and sometimes stalls.. OR when i shut the car off and run in to walmart(ie.) and come back out and start the car up, it idles up and down but its soo low it stalls most of the time??? i just dont know whats going on.. and im getting pretty frustrated..

could also be your IACV I was having the same problems with my B20 Vtec, after I fixed it the idle was nice and smooth. read this thread https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-6/%2A%2A%2Ahow-clean%2A%2A%2A-your-iacv-k-idle-air-control-valve-1575913/
im not sure what exactly the idle is but when i first start it up for awhile its fine and i have no problem. but if the car shuts off and i start it back up, thats really when i start having problems with it stalling and everything else.. or after i boost it, its the same way
