oil pan gasket ??
ok a fiend of mine replaced his oil pan gasket, he bought some red rtv sealant an he spread it all around the gasket lower and upper side of gasket, he put the pan back on and he got a lot of gasket sealant pushed out the oil pan (residue) on the outside, now he's afraid the same thing happened inside the oil pan and he's not sure if he should pull out clean up and apply sealant only where required or leave it as is, he's worried about rtv messing his motor up, is a d16y7 dd car. i would pull it out and do it the right way what do you guys think?
For a d16y7 he should have put hondabond on the cylinder block at the four corners. Then on the gasket at 4 locations (bases of the rounded portion of the gasket on the short sides). Then you're supposed to tighten it a certain way.
If he put so much RTV that it's oozing out the sides then, yea there's a good chance it will just start leaking again and he may have a chunk of RTV floating around inside.

yeah i think he may have stuff inside, but is been drying up for 3 days now without any oil inside so it may be hard enough not come go in the oil pan, but he doesn't wanna take it out again, he needs the car to work tomorrow, he may be ok but i don't really wanna take the decision since is his car i just want some input from different people, maybe somebody else did it like that before and it worked idk.
