So I'm cleaning and replacing all the seals and gaskets on the engine and I noticed this broken hose under the intake manifold at the rear of the engine. I don't know if I missed it and it broke when I took the manifold out or if it broke sometime before but it feels very brittle.

Anyway here are some pictures, if it's important then I guess I'll order replacement parts for it tomorrow while I'm at the dealer but to me it looks like it may just deal with emissions - but idk, that's why I'm asking



Furthest cylinder is #4


Runs up to the bottom of the manifold and connects here where it broke off

Goes through then straight into the intake

 

That is your PCV valve hose. I'd replace it, just my 2 cents.

That bottom hose breaks pretty easy wtf lol Wonder how long it's been like that...

Gonna be searching for a new valve and hose then tomorrow.

 

Oh and one more question, if this thing has been broken for as long as I think it has, is it possible oil could have leaked through it at times? I've had a small oil leak for the last few months and it's been very inconsistent on when it want's to show up or not - but definitely leaks a lot when I push the car with the engine off. Just a thought, I still mostly think it's my rear main.

 

It can be. That box on the back of the block likes to dribble oil sometimes on my Z6. Never enough to drip on the ground, just I can see a "skid mark" from it lol. I need to replace the box hoses and PCV sometime... Usually if the hose breaks you will have a vacuum leak too. So you might have just broke when you pulled off the intake.
