Default Xs t04x turbo question.

Any one know if I need to use a oil restrictor on this turbo? I can't get ahold of them. I also am wondering what size I need for the water inlets. Thanks

i've been running this turbo for about 8 years with a .032 restrictor in the oil feed with a -4 line. i don't remember the exact pressures but this is what XS and i came up with. as far as the coolant lines, i don't know. i also have a water cooled housing but i never utilized it being that it is non ball bearing

wow. Old School XS T04X turbo. It's mainly a T04 turbocharger, that typically uses a -4AN. As to whether or not you need a restrictor, chances are no, since it uses a large exhaust wheel/shaft

I thought it was ball bearing cuz the water jackets. So it's a journal bearing huh. So I don't need the water lines

.032 is a little small for a T4 like that.. water jackets help determine if it is a DBB cartridge, but not definitive.

Well, the one thing about the T04X is that they Came in both DBB and JBB setups. In cases like this, I would err on the side of caution and install the water lines. I myself have made cartidges with optional waterlines, but I've always told the future owner as to if this was a JBB or DBB. Here, we don't know the answer to that question.

This is tough. I would normally use a .065", and have a smaller one ready in case that was not enough. On shaft sizes as large as the T04X, typically that should do it, but be prepared to switch them to something smaller if necessary. Unfortunately, you may have to get more than one to be sure, so just prepare for it.
