Default help with new head gasket.. quick question and i have pics

im throwing a head gasket back on my friends prelude and usually they say the word "up" on them so u know which way they go but this one doesnt.. i think the gasket should go the wat pic 1&2 are... but please let me know ... BTW- this is the old headgasket im using for pics


i think it should go this way?








this looks like the wrong way but im not 100% sure

make sure the waterjackets are opened up,it will only go on one way.show pics on your 2 ways and we might be able go help you.

thos are pics of 2 different ways it can go on... the first 2 pics are of one way and the second 2 pics are a deifferent way

The first way round is the correct way. That little lip on the bottom left hand corner is on the distributor's side on my H22A. Thought I would have a good picture to illustrate but below are the best ones I found in my collection.

can anyone verify that this configuration is for an obd1 not obd2?

I hope you are using a service manual. It is clear in there which way round the head gasket goes. The diagram below is off a 96+ service manual. Head gasket goes the same way round for all H22A's (OBD1 and 2).
