The difference is in light out put. An 8000 K bulb on a 55 W ballast will look like a 6000 K bulb on a 35 W ballast. So it just shifts the color out put.

I have had multiple 55w kits from ddm and like them and they seem to be good qulity.

^k5 are you saying that the 55w kits are not any brighter than the 35w just that the light shifts on the color scale? They seem pretty bright to me.

I have 12000k's in my civic and they do not have the purple or pink hue like they should becuase they are 55w. They are more like 8000 to 10000k but that's what the website said would happen due to the higher wattage "washing the color out"

That's not what I'm saying. the color shift is what I meant about brighter output. The higher temperature bulbs that have less output have greater output with a 55 W compared to a 35 W ballast.

You mean an old thread? What's the risk you speak of?

there was a discussion here before about running 55w. the extra heat can cause the wire casings to melt

^ DDM sells a wire harness that helps take care of that problem.

I thought that if you exceed a wire's rating by drawing too many amps or too much current you just blow the fuse. So as long as you haven't swapped out a fuse for one with a higher rating then you shouldn't be able to melt wires. Correct?

Probably, but I believe it's just old people that flash because they see a bluish color and they think lights should be yellow and gold colored and they are just old and miserable.

I had a 350z with factory hid's and projector housings and people always flashed me thinking I had my high beams on. I loved flashing my lights to show them that they were my low beams. I hope they felt stupid after that and quit flashing people.

I never flash my lights at people in fear that I will be wrong in assuming that they have their high beams on. When people see blue or anything other than gold they don't understand so they flash

And your first question, is a 100 watt light bulb briter than a 75 watt bulb? Yes.

55w hids are more bright than 35w hid but generate more heat so 55w Kits are not recommended for smaller fog light housings because they tend to concentrate a large amount of heat in a small area.. and might melt your bulbs....

if you install 35w bulbs on 55w ballast, no doubt your bulb might be burnt...and the color tempreture is not as good as 55w bulbs

i highly recommend you to read the difference between them before you get the right hid kit

http://www.vvme.com/page.html?chapter=1&id=33

if your car has auto computer system (can-bus system), and some can-bus system restrict you only can install 35w kit, then if you install 55w kit the system will send out error info... if your can-bus system doesnt have limit about 35w or 55w, you can choose 55w kit with 55w digital ballast to make ur headlights more bright......

that is my idea...sorry, it seems a little mess.....
